If there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that mom always knows what’s best and this Scottie Mom is on a mission to do the very best by my fur kids and help other Scottie Moms do the same. Whether it is scouting out do-it-yourself tips for fellow Scottie Moms, reviewing products Scottie Moms might encounter or visiting dog-friendly shops, parks and vacation spots, this Scottie Mom shares the adventures of her fur kids almost daily.
Mom of two Scottish Terrier rescues – Mr. K and Heather – I write about Scottie fun, health, behavior and occasionally, breed basics. Most importantly, I write to entertain and in turn, spread a little Scottie love to the world one post at a time. And, if we happen to find other rescue Scotties safe and happy homes along the way, so be it! Connect with Scottie Mom and find other Scottie friends on my facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube and pinterest pages.

your’s look exactly like mine. I have a black boy and a wheaten girl. Seth and Meg and they too are very naughty!
It’s not hard to fall in love with the Scottie! I had a Westie for two years before I got the Scottie. Two totally different personalities! My scottie Duncan goes by the text book, and I love him so very much. A day doesn’t go by that I have to laugh at his antics. My Westie, Tater puts up with him and will put him in his place even though she’s an angle, at least she thinks she is. I have enjoyed your blog and have sent it on to my friend in Fl that has recently lost her scottie on mothers day. She ingested a poisenous toad and lost her little life. We are in the process of trying to find her another one.
Thank you for this amazing share Laurie! I was a Scottie Mom for 13 years and there is nothing more special than a Scottie!!!! I had Mom & daughter black and white girls!
Hey Morgan – you should send us a picture! And Laurie, I am so sorry to hear about your friend’s Scottie. Please send her my best. I know there are a few little ones available in the Tennessee Scottie Rescue Network now. Sharon – I couldn’t agree with you more! Thank you all for sharing!!
I just now discovered your page- and it’s adorable! I have a nine year old westie named Suga’Foot, and a four year old rescue scottie named Mattie. My family and I rescued her from Johnson City, Tennessee, when she was a year old. Her abusive past and five other homes in the first year of her life left her with a fear of doorways, plastic bags, broms, and especially new people. I saw how you wrote on the “5 Things You Should Never Say to a Scottie Mom,” and the one that stuck out to me was that people think that wheaten scotties are not scotties.. People always think Suga’ Foot is a scottie, too! Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love your page and that your scottish terriers are adorable.
I have Mac -a black Scottie we had had since he was 10 weeks old. He is now 4 and Rylie a wheaten Scottie who is 3. He came from Nebraska and I call him my special needs boy. He is terrified of all men- including my husband. He has been in our family for 1 1/2 years.
Love your stories….we are Scottie Mom and Dad as well to Aggie and Angus McGregor….they are the love of our lives!!! They totally fill our lives with joy and fun each and every day!
Well you know I’m partial to Golden Retrievers…but these are too cute to resist. Thanks for stopping by Gardens for Goldens. I’ll happy stay up to date on your adventures as well!
@Beth – I can relate to Rylie’s situation. Heather has taken to acting a wee bit strange around Scottie Dad. Pees almost everytime he goes to hook her up to her leash. Poor girl. We’re working through it, though. Be sure to send us photos of Mac and Rylie for our Stateside Scotties album! Right now, Florida is in the lead…
@Lynne – Thanks so very much! Say hello to Aggie and Angus for Heather and Mr. K!!
@Ogee – I’m partial to just about any dog, really – even mutts! I think dogs are such great companions and I’m so happy to call two my own. I LOVED Gardens for Goldens. Rest assured, Heather and Mr. K will be snooping around your site again and again!
Hi Scottie Mom! Your blog makes me smile. My family entered the scottie world in 2006. Since then our first black female scottie, Kelsey, passed away in January at age 6. Currently we have a Wheaton male, Riley (5yrs old), his black half-sister, Kourtney (2yrs old) and a Wheaton girl, Lindsey (7mos). Since they entered our world, they have turned it upside down. Each of your posts, reminds me of my own beloved Scotties. 🙂
So excited to find your blog! I’m not a Scottie Mom YET… but hopefully 2013 will bring a furry bundle of joy! My folks are now on their second Scottie, and I can’t get enough of them.
Kenley
I have given you the Dragon’s Loyalty Award, which is both the Very Versatile Blogger and Very Inspiring Blogger combined. I hope you will drop by and collect your well-deserved kudos 🙂
I love your site! I have a scottie girl name Maisie. My sister has another little girl named Jewel and my daughter has a boy named Mickey. They add such joy to our lives!
I just commented on your post and will kind of recap here. I’m a scotty mom to Mac “Dubh” who is just over a year and a half and our scotty mix girl Bella who is almost 6 months. What an experience and learning adventure we are having. So glad I found your blog and will be following.
I have 2 scottie dogs and grew up with a scottie. In my mind, there is no other kind of dog. I have Jonah who is 7 and we adopted a rescue scottie who is 5. His name is Jacob. Jacob was rescued from a shelter in TX on the day they were going to kill him. I am on a yahoo group for scottie lovers where I saw him. The lady who rescued him works with a scottie rescue group. He only weighed 10 lbs when she got him out of the shelter. We bought him a one-way plane ticket and he was flown from TX to his forever home in KY and he is pure JOY!! I would definitely adopt another rescue. My scottie boys are best buds and we have so much watching our boys play and romp and steal each other’s bones!
I am very happy to have found your blog. For reasons unknown to me, I cannot find a Scottie site in Ontario and it is rare to see a Scottie is Toronto. We adopted Harris last year and we were told he was about 5 but the vets believe he is closer to 2 or 3. He is a good and happy boy but true to his breed he does not like dogs bigger than himself, unless they are white. Beats me! We are having an ongoing pee problem on the living room carpet but we never catch him in the act. We don’t crate him as he is very good in the house and doesn’t destroy anything. I feel it may be too late in the game for crating. Any suggestions?
Hey Pam – We have the same problem. Over the years, we have minimalized the damage to our carpets by switching to hardwoods (much easier to clean and actually seems to have deterred them from peeing) and only granting access to carpeted rooms when someone is home with them. On the off chance they break into a room with carpet and “take care of business,” we have the Bissell Spot Bot to help remove the stain. It has been a life saver since we relocated to our new house. Much love, The Scottie Mom.
Hi I’m scotty mum to 12 months old Martin and 3 months old Bella.
I’m totally besotted.
Having had many terrier breeds and shown them, there is nothing like being owned by these two rascals
